Anil Sardana is the CEO & Managing Director of Tata Power since 1st February 2011. Till 31st January 2011, (beginning August 2007), he was the Managing Director of Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) and Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited. Prior to August 2007, he worked in Tata Power for more than five years.
Anil was Executive Director on the Board of Tata Power in 2007, responsible for the Strategy and Business Development functions & continued on Board till July 2008. He was also the founding Managing Director of Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited formerly known as North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL), the distribution arm of Tata Power in Delhi for nearly four and a half years, having taken over in that capacity when the company was set up. Anil is credited with having spearheaded the dramatic turnaround of Tata Power Delhi Distribution. During Anil’s tenure, Tata Power Delhi Distribution achieved benchmark performance standards—including setting a world record in ‘Reduction of Aggregate Technical and Commercial Losses’. Under his guidance, Tata Power Delhi Distribution was bestowed the prestigious ‘Silver National Award for Meritorious Performance’ for two consecutive years—2004-2005 and 2005-2006—in Power Distribution by the Prime Minister. Anil is a recipient of the coveted AESIEAP CEO Award in 2005 and Asia Power CEO Award, 2006. He was also the recipient of an award from Amity International for Strategic Business Development, acknowledging his business acumen and establishing him as an entrepreneur and visionary.
