Didar Islam, Graduate from University of Florida, Gainesville, worked for a number of Analog Semiconductor companies in the Silicon Valley areas for over 15 years, invented world’s only all CMOS single chip radio known as QWIKRADIO, with 10 US patents. Didar founded SOLARIC in early 2009, an R&D driven technology company in Bangladesh focusing on developing appropriate technologies for off-grid Solar applications.
Since 2009, Didar is engaged in practical impact oriented research developing appropriate technologies to deliver renewable energy to millions of off-grid homes. Two of his most successful innovations are the utility level (120V DC) solar home system also known as “3G-SHS” and NANO grid, a pre-paid meter based low-cost community solar system that removes the need for expensive inverter and yet provide all the benefits of having an inverter in the off-grid areas. SOLARIC grew form a start-up to $5 mln company in less than 2 years by addressing 2 key issues such as efficient collection of monthly installment using simple pre-paid system and allowing the user to use standard off-the-shelf appliances.
