Neil Atkinson has more than thirty years’ experience analysing oil markets. He began his career in 1979 working for Petroleos de Venezuela and in 1998 he moved on to Platts, with subsequent roles at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, Energy intelligence Group, KBC Energy Economics and at Informa plc where Mr Atkinson was Director, Datamonitor Energy and Head of Analysis for Lloyd’s List Intelligence. He joined the IEA as Head of the Oil Industry & Markets Division in 2016. Mr Atkinson is a regular contributor to energy conferences and to TV and radio with more than 300 appearances for various media outlets. He was Honorary Secretary of the British Institute of Energy Economics from 1992-2002.
