Dr Tran Chi Thanh is currently the President of Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM) (2012- present). Prior to assuming this post, he worked at the Nuclear Power Safety Division, Department of Physics, Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden from 2005 to 2009. He was the Deputy Director of the Nuclear Power Plants Department, Institute of Energy , Ministry of Industry and Trade in Hanoi Vietnam from 2009 to 2012.

Dr Tran received his MSc in Engineering degree from Moscow Power Energy Institute in 1994 and his PhD from Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden in 2009.
