Maria Poddey has been working for more than ten years for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in the area of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. She ran the Energy and Environment Department at the German-Chilean Chamber of Commerce in Santiago de Chile and she advised the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on renewable Energy policy issues in Latin America.
Ms. Poddey is now based in Jakarta, Indonesia, since July 2015, she heads the ASEAN-German Energy Programme cooperation with the ASEAN Centre for Energy as well as responsible as a Lead Advisor to ASEAN. In her role as GIZ Lead Advisor ASEAN she oversees regional cooperation between ASEAN and Germany in the fields of Climate Change and Environment, regional economic integration as well as institutional capacity development.
