Since January 2014 Philippe Monloubou is the Chairman of the Management Board of Enedis the major Electricity Distribution System Operator in France and a wholly-owned subsidiary of EDF Group, independently operated in accordance with the European and French power market regulation.
Enedis is operating more than 1.4 million km of MV and LV power grids serving more than 36 million customers and their power suppliers. A key enabler of the energy transition in France, Enedis has engaged a massive roll-out of its LinkyTM smart metering system program, with more than 13 million meters installed out of a total of 35 million scheduled by 2021, and initiated a large-scale industrial deployment of smart grid solutions. With about 400,000 producers totalling 25,000 MW connected to the grids operated by Enedis, including more than 385,000 photovoltaic producers and 1,500 wind generators totalling 19,000 MW i.e. 85% of the total French capacity of these two renewables sectors, Enedis highly contributes to the development of renewable energies in France. Enedis also facilitates the deployment of new uses such as individual or collective self-consumption and electric mobility.
Since April 2018 Philippe Monloubou is also 1st VP of the French Think Smartgrids association, which promotes the French smart grids Sector in France, Europe and around the world. During the period of his term as Chairman of the association from October 2015 to April 2018, the number of members increased from an initial 40 up to more than 100 and international cooperation agreements were concluded in Singapore, India and Indonesia, in order to develop smart grids projects.
Before its current position at Enedis he has spent 10 years within EDF Sales and Marketing division (then 12,000 people in France in charge of customer relationship with 27 million customers in France) where he prepared and managed the deregulation of the French electricity market. In 2011, he was appointed EDF group Senior Vice President in charge of Sales and Marketing.
From 1996 to 2004, he held several senior management positions, up to Deputy Director, at EDF GDF Services in France, then in charge of both electric & gas distribution grids.
In 1993, he created EDF Group Buenos Aires office, representing EDF South America up to 1996. Philippe Monloubou began his career within EDF Group in 1979. From 1979 to 1993, within the distribution activity, he held operational responsibilities (technical, customer relationship and human resources).
Philippe Monloubou holds an Engineering degree from the Special School of Public Works (ESTP - 1977) and graduated from the Institute of Business Administration (IAE Rennes - 1980).
