YU Hongyuan, PH.D (Chinese University of Hong Kong), born in August 17, 1974, is a Professor and Director of the Institute for Comparative Politics and Public Policy at the Shanghai Institute for International Studies, the Vice President of the Shanghai Association of Ecological Economy, and a Ph.D. Supervisor at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE). He is also an honorary fellow at the Center for International Energy Strategy Studies, Renmin University of China, and at the Sustainable Developmental Research Center of the China Academy for Social Science. He obtained his Ph.D from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and M.phil degree from Renmin University of China, and was a visiting scholar at the Center for Strategic and International Studies(CSIS)in the U.S. In 2010, Prof Yu was awarded the Shanghai Social Science Newcomer Award in addition to several Shanghai philosophy and social science outstanding achievement awards. He has also presided over key projects such as the  national social science funds " Research for Trinity Security Mechanism of Energy - Food - Water " and "Limited Capacity and Innovation: Comprehensive Study for Two Challenges of Climate Change ".

His representative English monograph is Global Warming and China's Environmental Diplomacy published by Nova Science Publishers (2008). Additionally, he has authored numerous Chinese books, such as Environmental Change and Power Transfer: System, Game and Response and Strategic Resource Politics and China's Strategies, published by Shanghai People's Publishing House in 2011 and 2016 respectively, as well as Challenges and Innovation in the Low-carbon Economy published by Northeast University of Finance and Economics Press in 2015. At present, Prof Yu has published more than 30 papers in the Chinese core journals.
