Dr Andrew Lenton is a Principal Research Scientist in CSIRO’s Climate Science Centre. A focus of his research is exploring climate solutions (geoengineering) using earth system models, having been closely involved in negative emissions (carbon dioxide removal) research over many years. Amongst other national and international roles, he currently co-leads the international Carbon Dioxide Removal Model Intercomparison Project (CDRMIP), exploring the potential and implications of negative emissions for climate, and sits on the GESAMP UN Working Group on Marine Geoengineering (WG41). He has more than 15 years research experience and is an author of the 5th and 6th IPCC Assessment Reports. At present he leads the ocean biogeochemical research modelling team at CSIRO and acts an advisor on Geoengineering and Climate.
