ASEAN Centre for Energy
Beni Suryadi leads the research unit of the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), an intergovernmental organisation within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ (ASEAN) structure that represents the 10 ASEAN Member States’ (AMS) interests in the energy sector. Under his portfolio, the Policy Research and Analytics Programme fulfil its function as a regional centre of excellence that builds a coherent, coordinated, focused and robust energy policy agenda and strategy for ASEAN.
He leads various studies on energy to provide policy recommendation for the region in achieving its target on low emission strategies, under the umbrella of the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2016-2025. He is also in charge for the ASEAN Energy Database System (AEDS); https://aeds.aseanenergy.org/.
His current researches, among others, are the 6th ASEAN Energy Outlook (AEO6) and the ASEAN Interconnection Masterplan Study (AIMS) III both are expected to be launched at the 38th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM), in Vietnam, 2020.
He also led the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT), http://accept.aseanenergy.org/, the first energy-climate change integrated project in ASEAN, which aims to support ASEAN in improving the coherence between the ASEAN energy and climate policies and contribute to more climate-friendly development of the energy sector.
