Elangovan Karuppiah

Over the past 35 years, Elangovan has garnered extensive experience in a wide variety of business fields ranging from energy and power to industry and automation. His cross-regional experience has allowed him a broader understanding and appreciation of the diversity of global markets and customers.

As of 1 April 2019, Elangovan holds a dual role at Siemens Smart Infrastructure. As CEO for Regional Solutions & Services business for the Middle-East/Asia Pacific region, he holds full P&L responsibility for the business unit with a focus on smart buildings and the digital transformation within the industry. Additionally, he also holds the position as Head of Smart Infrastructure for the ASEAN countries where he oversees both the solutions and services business, as well as the product and system sales through partner channels. His role extends past buildings and infrastructure, into connecting energy systems and industries to create smart environments.

Prior to this, Elangovan was the CEO of the Building Technologies Division for the Middle-East/Asia Pacific region for seven years where he was instrumental in building up the regional headquarters in Singapore and spear-heading the business growth across the region. Between 2004 and 2012, he was based at the Building Technologies Division global headquarters in Zug, Switzerland. He also spent five years with Siemens in Germany, overseeing business development activities for automation systems and motion controls in various European countries. Elangovan started his career as a Sales Engineer with Siemens Malaysia in 1984 before becoming the Head of the Automation & Drives Division in 1999.

He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering & Electronics from the University of Manchester (UMIST), UK. He is known amongst his peers to be a visionary with a passion for innovation and customer centricity. Currently based in Singapore, Elangovan enjoys spending time with his family and is an ardent badminton enthusiast, never missing the chance to play the sport every weekend.
