Dr. Sriram Vaisambhayana is a Principal Research Fellow at Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N). He has about 17 years of industrial experience in the R & D division of ABB, GE, and GE Healthcare, as an Architect and senior specialist in power electronics. In ERI@N he is leading the Advanced Power Electronics team and project on 22 kV Solid state Transformer design. He successfully lead the team that delivered the phase 1 of the SST project with 6.6 kV building block design. He was the Principal Investigator of Power electronics related projects and lead various projects related to wind energy conversion and medium frequency transformer design for Vestas and drive train test bench design, development and energy management system development and leading the high voltage solid state transformer project funded by Govt. of Singapore . He has many patents and several publications in the area of power electronics and power systems.

In industry, he has designed, developed power converters for STATCOM, experimental 100 kW converter designs for Off-high way vehicle ESS hardware in loop studies, developed MATLAB based Transient simulation models for DC machines in traction. He has lead and developed high frequency and high power resonant power supplies and amplifiers in the range of 1 MW for whole body and specialty MRI, developed extensive thermal and reliability models for the converters with experimental verification, designed UPF boost converters for machine loads, and resolved various customer centric high frequency, high voltage power supplies for X-ray machines. His main areas of interest are medium and high frequency, medium voltage, power electronics converter design, machine drives and control, electro-mobility related energy management and power quality improvement.
