Mr James Ooi is Vice President (Corporate Development) of Singapore LNG Corporation Pte Ltd (SLNG). In this role, he is responsible for SLNG’s long-term throughput service growth; strategic planning and implementation; market intelligence and analysis; and investment appraisals.

With over 20 years of experience in the energy sector, his expertise covers energy market design, asset valuation, commercial contracting for gas (GSA, LNG SPA, FSRU TCP, TUA/AA) and power (PPA), corporate strategy, planning and operations, spanning across multiple regions such as Asia Pacific, North America, the Middle East and North Africa. Prior to joining SLNG in July 2020, James was Partner (Founder) at The Lantau Group in Singapore, and was Managing Director of Gas and Power Consulting IHS Markit, Singapore before that. James has also operated as a market participant earlier in his career, where he held the position of Portfolio Manager at YTL PowerSeraya; during which he served as a nominated member of the Singapore Electricity Market’s Rule Change Panel (Technical Working Group, TWG).

James holds a First Class Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southampton in the UK, and a Master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering from the University of Strathclyde.
