Simon Rolland is Energy Programme Director for GIZ, an international technical cooperation agency active in Thailand and Southeast Asia for several decades and an integral part of the cooperation between Germany and the region in the field of energy and climate change. Prior to overseeing the Energy portfolio of GIZ in Thailand, Simon worked in Rwanda where he managed a regional multi-donor programme supporting energy access and in Ghana as Energy Programme Manager for the European Union. For 7 years before that Simon was the Director of the Alliance for Rural Electrification, a business organisation focusing on off-grid and mini-grid renewables in emerging and developing economies. All in all, he has been working for almost 15 years with governments, the private sector and development partners on renewable energy development around the world.
