Dr. Akihiko Yokoyama, whose research field is Power Systems Engineering, is the Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Systems and the President of the Alliance for Advanced Power & Environmental Technology at the University of Tokyo.

Dr. Yokoyama was appointed as the Chairman of the Electricity Market Surveillance Commission of the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry (METI)on September 1, 2021. Prior to this, he served at various government advisory committees on the electricity and gas market reform since 2000s.

In the academic area, Dr. Yokoyama served as the Assistant Professor and the Professor of Engineering at the University of Tokyo. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Texas in Arlington in 1987 and the University of California at Berkeley in 1988.

Dr. Yokoyama received his Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1984.
