Jim Vono is the region President for Services, for the Asia region for GE’s Gas Power businesses. GE’s Gas Power business aims to develop the market of new equipment for gas power plants and after-market services for gas power generation assets. The Gas Power business is GE’s largest industrial equipment and services business. Asia is a priority region for the global business, with over 4000 employees serving customers across 22+ different markets.
In this role, Jim is responsible for driving growth and execution for Services for the region. He oversees all commercial and operational functions in Asia, covering parts, repairs, services and training. Jim partners closely with the FieldCore organization, a GE Company focusing on services operations excellence, outage management and customer fulfillment. He is responsible for developing and delivering a regional services strategy that offers customers the technology, knowledge and insight they need to manage the entire lifecycle of their power plants, ultimately being the most preferred partner in supporting the world’s best running fleet.
Most recently, Jim was the President for Operations for the Asia Pacific region. Prior to that, he was General Manager, for Global Repair Solutions, a strategic part of Power Services, responsible for a worldwide service center network of more than 40 service and manufacturing centers providing comprehensive service options to customers and their power generation assets, including repairs, manufacturing and various material solutions. Under Jim’s leadership, the team collectively delivered consistently in quality, cycle, and over delivered in Productivity and Op Profit to helping grow transactional orders with wins across our portfolio.
Jim joined GE in 1997 as part of GE Aviation’s acquisition of Greenwich Air Services. Since then, he has held a variety of quality and operations roles in Aviation, Energy and Power. He joined GE Energy in 2007 as the Service Center Manager for GE’s Aero Service Center in Houston, Texas. He also served as the executive quality systems leader for Energy Services, where he led the Traditional and Lean Six Sigma Quality organization. In 2011, he was named general manager for PGS North America field services and was responsible for leading a team of 500+ field engineers. He then took on the role of general manager for thermal repairs for PGS Americas.
Prior to joining GE, Jim served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic, and today is an active member of GE's Veteran's Network. He is both a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and a Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant mechanic (FAA A&P). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in professional aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Jim lives in Singapore with his wife, Gina and their 5-year-old son, Greyson.
