Mr Lawrence Anderson was the former Ambassador of Singapore to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Non-Resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain from Mar 2013 to Sep 2019.
Born in 1958, Mr Anderson graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History, Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in 1984 from the National University of Singapore. He was awarded the Raffles Scholarship and obtained a Master of Arts in Area Studies (Southeast Asia) from the School of Oriental and African Studies, United Kingdom in 1994.
Mr Anderson joined the Foreign Service in 1984. His first overseas posting was as First Secretary to the Singapore Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York in 1988. His other overseas postings include serving as First Secretary to the Singapore Embassy in Washington, Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission to the Singapore Embassy in Bangkok and Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia. In MFA Headquarters, he held various posts including Deputy Director of Regional Policy in the Policy Planning & Analysis Directorate I, Deputy Director of Regional Policy in the ASEAN Directorate, Director of Technical Cooperation Directorate and Director of the Europe Directorate. Mr Anderson also served as Director/Special Duties in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diplomat-in-Residence at the Civil Service College from 2011 to 2013. Currently, he is Director for the Communications Department at the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF).
Mr Anderson was awarded the Long Service Medal in 2007.
Mr Anderson is married to Mrs Maureen Anderson and they have a son.
