Dr. Shamma Al Malek is the Executive Director of Strategic Affairs at the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE). She has more than 15 years’ experience in the UAE energy sector incorporating leadership positions and a successful delivery of pioneering projects including RO desalination pilot plants, treated water use, and regulation of water tankers.

Dr. Shamma has a proven track record of steering Abu Dhabi energy sector’s growth and performance through strategic initiatives such as sector restructuring, digital transformation, human resources, and the Abu Dhabi Excellence Award in addition to committee and board memberships related to environment, and climate change, as well as independent water and electricity producers.

Dr. Shamma received her PhD on “Membrane Fabrication & Characterization” following her MS degree in Chemical Engineering - both from the UK. She has published more than 15 academic papers in international journals and received many award certificates including the Rashid Award for Academic Excellence and Al Owais Award for Creativity.
