Yoshiyuki Hanasawa is the Executive Vice President (EVP), Chief Regional Officer for Asia Pacific and India at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Managing Director of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Asia Pacific (MHI-AP).
Hanasawa was appointed to his current role in April 2019. Based in Singapore, he oversees MHI-AP and MHI Group’s businesses across key markets in Asia Pacific, which are focused on providing cross-industry solutions to support the sustainable growth of the region. With nearly 40 years of experience in the industry, Hanasawa has developed expertise in business development and managing large complex organizations, as well as in-depth knowledge in power systems and marine machinery. He has worked in various regions, including Asia, Europe, the US and Middle East, bringing a truly global perspective to the MHI business.
Hanasawa has been with MHI since the beginning of his career, starting out in the shipping and machinery business at MHI Nagasaki Shipyard and Engine Works in 1980. In 2012, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of MHI Europe and Mitsubishi Power Systems Europe, where he was responsible for expanding MHI’s global capabilities through strategic partnerships with organizations with complementary technologies.
Prior to his current role, Hanasawa was CEO and President of MHI Engine Turbocharger (MHIET) from 2016 to March 2019, where he was head of MHI’s Sagamihara Machinery Works. He was also the EVP of MHI Forklift, Engine & Turbocharger Holdings (MFET) during the same period. Additionally, Hanasawa served as a board member of MHI Vestas Offshore Wind from 2007 to September 2019.
Hanasawa holds a Bachelor of Laws from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.
