Dr. Muhamad Azfar Ramli is the Deputy Director of the Systems Science Department at the Institute of High Performance Computing, A*STAR.

In this role, he leads a team of computational scientists and engineers that utilize advanced computational analytics, modelling, simulation and optimisation in order to study and understand complex dynamics and behavior of a broad spectrum of urban systems. The research work undertaken by the team involves harnessing data & knowledge-driven approaches in order to uncover deep insight into the nature of these systems.

The Energy Systems research group which he oversees have been actively developing the digital grid network twin for Singapore, resulting in significant technological advancement in future infrastructure planning capabilities. The group has now expanded their activities towards developing an integrated multi-energy system modelling and optimization platform in order to support public and private sector organizations towards enabling optimal pathways towards decarbonization of the energy landscape of Singapore.

Dr. Ramli graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore.
