Dan Kell is the Senior director of Power System Studies and HVDC at Hatch PD&I. A professional engineer with a wide range of engineering experiences including utility and international consultancy activities, with a focus on HVDC/FACTS.

Mr. Kell has been involved with numerous HVDC/FACTS projects, ranging from feasibility studies, technical specification preparation, tender review and commissioning to equipment assessment and studies involving equipment upgrades.

Mr. Kell has been involved with numerous projects, ranging from feasibility studies, switching studies, insulation coordination, root cause analysis, harmonic resonance, HVDC control and protection design and interaction studies. This practical field is coupled with a great deal of experience in power system simulation in time-domain electromagnetic transient modelling with PSCAD and RTDS which is critical for the detailed analysis of HVDC.
