Dr. Wai-Kin Wong is a highly experienced professional electrical engineer with an established track record of delivering next-generation/leading-edge technologies to market, in areas such as power system planning and analysis, advanced technology/project development & commercialisation of solar PV, wind, next-generation dispatchable generation including battery energy storage, in a career spanning applied research, academia and industry in Asia, the US and Australia.

His past roles include as the principal Engineer Network Development at ElectraNet between 2012 to 2018, where he was the technical lead for transmission grid connections and NER compliance assessment, power system dynamic analysis, renewable integration of utility-scale wind and solar PV and system planning for South Australia’s HV transmission network.

Most recently, Wai-Kin led the Grid Scale Technologies business unit at AGL Energy, where he oversaw technology strategy & development, grid connections, large-scale and Distributed Energy Resources and Virtual Power Plant (VPP) developments.

He currently holds and has recently held memberships in prominent industry panels and working groups for power system modelling, planning and system operation such as CIGRE C4 and C6 and NEMOC. Wai-Kin is a Chartered International Professional Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Australia and holds current committee and previous chair roles in the IEEE Power and Energy Society.
