Gary Rose

Gary Rose is the Executive Vice-President of Nuclear, Canada and the President of Candu International. Gary joined AtkinsRéalis in July 2023, after a long and accomplished career with Ontario Power Generation (OPG).

His responsibilities include Candu’s Global OEM Services, all international projects, and overall general management of the Candu International business. His leadership ensures refurbishment projects in Romania (Cernavoda 1), China (TQNPC 1 and 2), and the CANDU New Build project in Romania (Cernavoda 3 and 4) are delivered to the highest standards, on-time and on-budget.

Gary also oversees Candu’s Global OEM Services business. OEM Services is responsible for engineering and field inspection, maintenance, and nuclear-specified and manufactured parts for all existing CANDU® reactors in Ontario, New Brunswick, Argentina, South Korea, Romania, and China.

Gary is an experienced executive, whose career at OPG spanned more than 35 years and included positions in energy management and corporate finance, as well as senior roles on both the Pickering A Return to Service Project and the Darlington Refurbishment Program, including the retube and feeder replacement (RFR) project. He represented the Refurbishment Program at several Ontario Energy Board hearings.

His most recent role prior to joining Candu Energy was as Vice-President of New Nuclear Growth, responsible for the development of new nuclear opportunities in Ontario.

A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) by training, Gary is also a graduate of the Rotman Director Education Program where he obtained his certified corporate director (ICD.D) accreditation. Gary is also the past chair of the Board of Governors of Durham College.
