Jason Mann

Jason Mann is a Senior Managing Director in the Economic and Financial Consulting practice of FTI Consulting in London and leads the firm’s energy team. His expertise spans commercial feasibility, regulatory design, market integration, and operational frameworks.

Jason is a leading global advisor on the regulation and development of electricity interconnectors, having advised on over 40 different projects across five continents. He has worked with developers to help bring c 20GW of interconnector capacity on line.

His experience includes major interconnector developments in Asia such as the proposed links between Malaysia and Singapore between Japan-Korea interconnector. In Australia, has worked with developers on multiple interconnector projects within Australia’s National Electricity Market – including most recently Marinus Link.

In Europe, Jason has advised on almost every interconnector between Great Britain and mainland Europe. He also played a key role in developing the Cap and Floor regime, which underpins the regulatory framework for most interconnectors between Great Britain and Europe. He has also been closely involved in the development of many interconnectors within the EU – including most recently the Celtic Link between France and Ireland.

His experience also extends to North America, where he is currently advising the Alberta Electricity System Operator (“AESO”) on developing the commercial and investment arrangements to enhance interconnection with neighbouring Canadian provinces. He has also advised on interconnector frameworks in the Gulf region and on proposed ultra-long transmission links between Morocco and both Great Britain and France.

More broadly, Jason has advised regulators, system operators and market participants globally, on transmission investment and regulatory models since the mid-1990s. This includes work with Ofgem to develop regulatory arrangements that continue to shape the Great Britain energy market today.
