Spotlighting Swedish Energy Technologies for ASEAN’s Energy Future
Connecting capabilities, capital and projects across Sweden and ASEAN
As Singapore accelerates its energy transition, it faces a defining challenge: how to secure reliable, low-carbon power while managing surging demand from a growing population and increasing business demands from industrials. Sweden, as a global leader in nuclear innovation and grid modernisation, with one of the highest shares of fossil-free electricity in the world, is ready to offer proven technologies and expertise to partner on that journey.
Building on the strong foundation of Singapore–Sweden energy collaboration, this forum aims to deepen Sweden’s engagement at SIEW while strengthening connections between Swedish energy stakeholders –across government, industry, and SMEs –and key partners in Singapore. This forum aims to explore where Swedish energy capabilities can plug directly into Singapore’s energy roadmap, from next-generation nuclear to resilient power grids.
Key Discussions:
- Turning Sweden-Singapore partnerships into concrete, on the ground projects
- Sweden’s small modular reactor (SMR) journey, and what it means for a new-market entrant like Singapore
- The safety, regulatory and public-trust frameworks needed to introduce advanced nuclear into a dense, land-scarce environment like Singapore
- Keeping the grid stable and reliable as electricity demand surges from increased residential and industrial demand
- Building the technical, regulatory and workforce capacity needed to bring new energy technologies from pilot to operation
