Singapore is an island city-state with the third highest population density in the world. Being a small island-nation, it is natural-resource constrained and renewable energy disadvantaged. Our key industries are heavily dependent on reliable access to high quality and affordable electricity. Addressing existential energy challenges require the use of both policy and innovation levers to address challenges relating to increasing energy demand, improve energy security, climate change commitments, the need for high reliability and affordability, and new technologies that may possibly disrupt in the energy sector.
The roundtable, features speakers addressing Energy Grid 2.0 initiatives with regard to intelligent energy management system, power distribution systems, and energy system optimization. Rapid technological advancements in renewables will undoubtedly provide new opportunities and challenges for grid reliability and resilience. Energy storage, advanced power electronics, multi-energy smart grids, and electromobility are new developments that will shape the needs of future generation of power grids. This round table will cover topics ranging from research, practical test-bedding, and commercialization approach to explore the potential of Energy Grid 2.0 and its relevance to Singapore’s needs as well as its export potential.
