Singapore Energy Summit (SES) is qualified for 4 PDUs by PEB
The Singapore Energy Summit (SES) is a platform for strategic panel discussions on key energy issues. Featuring energy ministers and industry CEOs, the SES provides SIEW delegates with strategic insights into the current developments in the global energy landscape and how energy stakeholders could address the challenges and opportunities ahead.
The energy landscape continues to experience major shifts. Global energy demand is expanding, and this is especially pronounced in Asia. The growth in energy demand will also be driven by electrification of transportation, industries and buildings. This demand has been supported by increased supply of oil and gas, lowered cost of renewables and technological advancements in energy storage. However, there remain concerns over meeting climate change commitments, even as renewable energy investments hit record highs. Against this backdrop, SIEW will provide a platform for global energy stakeholders to deliberate on and accelerate the transformation towards a more sustainable energy future.
This session will explore how we can accelerate the transformation needed to ensure a more sustainable energy future. In particular, it will look at how energy stakeholders can collaborate and deliberate on moving from ambition to action.
- What does the energy transformation look like for Asia?
- How can governments and industry work together more effectively to co-create solutions to ensure a more sustainable energy future?
- How do we overcome hurdles to the future energy transition such as financing to move from ambition to action?
This session will address the impact of the electrification of the transport, industry and buildings will bring for the energy sector. It will delve into opportunities for new business models and increased flexibility to manage grid peaks and fluctuations.
- How will greater electrification reshape demand and how should we respond to these changes?
- What are new business models does electrification open up for utilities and the energy sector?
- How should energy infrastructure develop to support greater electrification?

Presented by Shell
This session will discuss how the increased demand for energy driven by greater electrification can be met by various sources of energy generation while still balancing the need for reliability, sustainability and price competitiveness.
- What does the ideal energy mix for the region look like and how will this evolve with greater electrification?
- With renewables playing a larger role in meeting energy demand, what is the role of fossil fuels?
Moderator
Digitalisation is transforming the energy sector, but brings with it new challenges for regulators to ensure consumers are empowered and protected.
- How can regulators approach the energy transformation to allow for future-ready power grids and innovation?
- Digitalisation – enabler or disruption? What are some of the challenges in regulating a constantly evolving landscape?
With greater digitalisation of processes and technologies, the energy industry is set to change. As various industry sectors become increasingly interconnected, this session explores the ways digitalisation is changing the energy landscape and how we can foster greater innovation.
- What will the impact of digitalisation be on future energy systems?
- How do we nurture an innovation ecosystem and what does it look like?
- How can the energy industry harness digitalisation to forge new partnerships and business models?
- How do we ensure resilience of our energy systems in the face of greater cyber-threats?
Speakers
This session will explore ways to attract and sustain investments to support the transition to a more sustainable energy mix.
- How can financial institutions shape the energy transition towards sustainability?
- What is the impact of shifting away from traditional energy projects to greener developments? How will this affect emerging markets in Asia?
